The hotel
Nobu Hotel Los Cabos is a 200-room luxury hotel on the Pacific coast west of Cabo San Lucas, inside the gated Diamante community, and every room and suite has an ocean view. It is about 7.6 km from the Cabo San Lucas marina, around 18 minutes by car without traffic, and longer at rush hour. It opened in 2019 and was built by RCD Hotels next to the Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos.
The hotel sits on a stretch of Pacific sand inside the gated Diamante community. Nobu's own FAQ says ocean conditions can be unsafe for swimming because of strong currents and drop-offs, so guests walk the beach for the views and swim in the four pools, one of them an adults-only infinity pool.1
History and curious facts
The story of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos
Nobu Hotel Los Cabos was built from the ground up by RCD Hotels on the Diamante site, at the same time as the Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos next door; RCD runs Nobu on a European plan rather than all-inclusive. The lead architects were Monica Cuervo and Mark Yoshizaki of WATG, and Severine Tatangelo of Studio PCH did the interiors, mixing California modernism with Japanese minimalism: rooms have wooden soaking tubs and closet doors inspired by shoji screens. In March 2019 the trade press reported that the hotel would open in April with 200 rooms, four pools and a spa of 13,691 square feet. The official grand opening came on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, when the Nobu Hospitality co-founders, chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, held a sake ceremony at the hotel.

Nobu is on the open Pacific, where the hotel itself advises against swimming, so a yacht day is how most guests get into calm water. Our transfer picks you up at the hotel, drives out of Diamante to the Cabo San Lucas marina in about 18 minutes without traffic, drops you at your yacht's dock and brings you back; the driver collects the fare, which depends on the hotel's zone. A snorkel outing on the Sea of Cortez side gives you the swim the beach in front does not. Couples staying here often prefer the sunset outing, with dinner at Nobu afterwards, and from December to April a whale watching trip fits well into a morning.
