The hotel
Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos is a 639-room all-inclusive resort on the Pacific coast west of Cabo San Lucas, inside the 1,500-acre Diamante community, open since July 2019. It is about 7.3 km from the Cabo San Lucas marina, around 18 minutes by car without traffic, and longer at rush hour. It is not adults only: the resort has a kids club, a teen space and water slides.
The resort has nearly a kilometer of Pacific beachfront inside the gated Diamante community, but its official site says it is not safe for guests to swim in the ocean because of strong currents, and asks them to keep their distance from the shore. Swimming happens in the five large pools.1

The story of Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos
Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos and its neighbor, Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, were both built from scratch by RCD Hotels on the Diamante point, a private residential and resort development. RCD announced two summer openings in Los Cabos for 2019: Hard Rock as an all-inclusive and Nobu on a European plan. The Hard Rock was unveiled in July 2019 with 639 rooms in seven categories, the largest being the Rock Star Suite, a two-bedroom oceanfront suite of 4,000 square feet. It opened with eight themed restaurants, among them Los Gallos for Mexican food, Toro steakhouse, Ciao for Italian and Ipanema, a Brazilian rodizio, plus five pools with swim-up bars and a Rock Spa. Guests also get access to the otherwise private golf courses of Diamante, including the Dunes course by Davis Love III and El Cardonal, the first course designed by Tiger Woods.

The Hard Rock is built for families and groups, with a kids club, a teen space and water slides, and the ocean in front is closed to swimmers, so a day on a yacht is the easiest way to get everyone into calm water. Our transfer picks you up at the resort, drives out of Diamante to the Cabo San Lucas marina in about 18 minutes without traffic, drops you at your yacht's dock and brings you back; the driver collects the fare, which depends on the hotel's zone. Families tend to book a morning snorkel outing on the Sea of Cortez side. Groups here for a bachelorette party or a birthday can have a yacht to themselves, and from December to April whale watching is a good plan with kids.
