The yacht with the most water toys in Cabo San Lucas is the Sea Ray 55, a 55-foot flybridge motor yacht with air conditioning for up to 15 guests. It carries a floating pool, a paddle board, a lily pad floating mat and a floating platform, plus snorkel gear, and costs USD 2,709 (MXN 51,499) for four hours, boarding at the IGY Marina Fuel Dock in Marina Cabo San Lucas. For a water slide, book the Pontoon 38, a double-deck pontoon for up to 18 with a slide off the upper deck, at USD 1,619 (MXN 30,799) for four hours. Prices are per boat with the 16% tax included; the 15% crew tip is extra.

The table lists the toys each yacht includes. If a toy isn't listed for a boat, don't count on it being there. None of the yachts allow fishing.

The Sea Ray 55: floating pool, paddle board, lily pad and platform

With four toys on board, the Sea Ray 55 is our pick for a group that plans to spend most of the charter in the water. At the anchor stop the floating pool goes over the side, the floating platform gives swimmers somewhere to climb out, the lily pad is the big mat people lie on, and the paddle board is there for whoever wants to move around. Snorkel gear is on board too.

The Sea Ray 55 takes up to 15 guests, with air conditioning, cabins and heads for anyone who'd rather watch from the shade, and bottled water, sodas and ice are included. Towels aren't, so bring your own. With 15 on board, four hours comes to about USD 181 each before the tip. Our best yacht for 10 to 12 guests guide compares it with the other big yachts.

The Pontoon 38: the slide

The Pontoon 38 is the only yacht in the fleet with a water slide, which runs from the upper deck into the water. The Pontoon 38 also has an enclosed head with a freshwater shower for rinsing off before you eat, a cooler with ice, and two decks for up to 18 people. It also carries snorkel gear and a floating mat.

Our party boat guide and spring break guide are both built around the Pontoon 38, since it carries the biggest groups.

Paddle boards: Azimut 45, Sea Ray 55, Sea Ray 65, Azimut 70

Four yachts list a paddle board. The Azimut 45 Flybridge is a 45-foot flybridge yacht for 12, with a cooler with ice, water and sodas, towels, snorkel gear, a floating mat and the board. The Sea Ray 65 has a lily pad and snorkel gear along with the board. It meets you at Fisherman's Landing restaurant, by the Cabo Escape terminal, from 8 AM, and it must be back by 8 PM. The Azimut 70 carries the board along with snorkel gear and a floating mat, and its menu and complimentary drinks are included.

The Bayliner 30 is too small to carry a paddle board, so it has a floating mat instead.

Floating mats: every yacht

On the small boats, the lily pad or floating mat is the toy people use most. It goes in the water at the anchor stop and several people can lie on it at once. The Chaparral 28 adds a Bluetooth sound system, which makes it the low-cost swim-stop boat for up to 10, at USD 909 (MXN 17,399) for four hours. Our small boat rental guide compares the three small boats.

Where the toys go in the water

The toys come out at the swim stop, which on a three-hour charter falls in the second hour. You head out past Pelican Rock and the sea lion colony, stop for photos at the Arch, and then the captain anchors on the calm bay side near Lover's Beach. The captain picks the exact spot based on the day's water, and the toys go in only once the boat is anchored and the crew gives the go-ahead. Divorce Beach, on the Pacific side, is never a swim stop because of its big surf and strong undertow.

On a four-hour charter, the swim stop can move up the coast to Santa María Bay when it's open for snorkeling. It's closed for snorkeling for now and expected to reopen in November. Until then the snorkel stop is Pelican Rock, inside the bay, where reef fish swim close to the surface. Our yacht day itinerary guide lays out two, three and four hours.

Mornings usually have the calmest water, which matters more on a paddle board than on a floating mat. Life jackets are on board. Tell us the kids' ages when you book so the sizes fit, and anyone who isn't a strong swimmer should wear one.

What else comes with every charter

  • A captain, and a deckhand on most yachts.
  • The CONANP conservation fee for the protected area around the Arch.
  • Departures from 7 AM to 7 PM. Yachts sail until 8 PM, and those from the marina can stay anchored in the bay until 10 PM.
  • A new date or a full refund if the Port Captain closes the harbor, which happens mostly between September and mid-October.

No yacht sells alcohol. Guests 18 and over may bring their own drinks, and on the Azimut 70 and McKinna 70 the crew serves complimentary drinks as a courtesy. Save the drinks for after the slide. The yacht by group size page sorts the whole fleet by headcount.

Booking a yacht for the toys

Open the planner, pick the Sea Ray 55 or the Pontoon 38 (or any yacht from the table), your date and three or four hours. Say in the notes that the swim stop is the main event, so the captain plans more time at anchor. You can also message us on WhatsApp at +52 624 300 8029. We reply in writing within two hours, 8 AM to 8 PM Cabo time, and send a secure Stripe link once the date is confirmed.
