Cabo yacht rental prices for 2026-27 run from USD 519 (MXN 9,799) for two hours on the Chaparral 28, a 28-foot sport boat for up to 10 people, to USD 11,199 (MXN 212,799) for eight hours on the McKinna 70, a 70-foot yacht with a chef and complimentary drinks. Every price is for the whole boat with its captain, with the 16% Mexican tax included, and each yacht boards at its own dock in Marina Cabo San Lucas; your exact dock and a map link come on your boarding pass. The 15% crew tip is not included.
The full 2026-27 list for all thirteen yachts follows, with what each price covers and the per-person math for common group sizes. We also get asked a lot whether a charter and a rental are the same thing in Cabo; they are, and the section on that explains why.

These are the prices for two, three and four hours, per boat, tax included. All yachts board at Marina Cabo San Lucas downtown (each at its own dock: the Azimut 70 and the McKinna 70 at the IGY Marina Fuel Dock), except the Sea Ray 65, which meets you at Fisherman's Landing restaurant, by the Cabo Escape terminal.

Yacht charter or yacht rental? Same thing in Cabo
In Cabo both words mean the same product: the whole boat, with its captain and crew, for a set number of hours, for your group only. Nobody here hands you the keys to a bare yacht; a licensed captain runs every charter. So a "yacht charter price" and a "yacht rental price" are the same number, and both already include the crew. The one real distinction is private versus shared: a private charter is one group per boat, while a shared tour sells seats per person. Our private yacht vs shared boat tour comparison covers that.
How much is a boat ride in Cabo if you only want two hours?
Two hours is the minimum on every yacht except the Sea Ray 55, the Sea Ray 65, the Azimut 70 and the McKinna 70, and it's enough for the classic loop: Pelican Rock, the sea lions, the Arch, Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach, then back along Médano Beach. That route is about 4.7 miles round trip, so you aren't rushing.
The four least expensive two-hour charters are the Chaparral 28 (USD 519), the Bayliner 33 (USD 599), the Bayliner 30 (USD 549) and the Sea Ray 36 (USD 659). For a couple or a small family, any of them does the job, and they differ mostly in space: the Bayliner 30 is a 30-foot cabin cruiser for up to 6, while the Chaparral 28 is a 28-foot sport boat that takes up to 10. Our small boat rental guide compares them for 2 to 8 people.

What the price includes, and what costs extra
The price on each yacht is the boat, its captain and crew, the gear listed for that boat and the CONANP conservation fee for the protected area around the Arch, with tax already in. A professional photographer is an extra USD 180, paid directly to the photographer. Some examples from the yacht pages:
- The Chaparral 28 comes with snorkel gear, a lily pad floating mat, a cooler and a Bluetooth sound system.
- The Sea Ray 40 includes a captain and deckhand, bottled water and ice, a cooler, towels and snorkel gear.
- The Pontoon 38 has a water slide from the upper deck and an enclosed head with a freshwater shower.
- The Sea Ray 55 has air conditioning, cabins and heads, plus a floating pool, a paddle board, a lily pad and a floating platform.
- The Azimut 70 and the McKinna 70 include food and complimentary drinks served by the crew.
What is not in the price:
- The crew tip. 15% is customary in Cabo, so on a USD 1,499 charter plan on about USD 225.
- Food on every yacht except the two 70-footers. It's optional, and you can order from our menu in the planner.
- Alcohol. We don't sell or serve it, so guests 18 and over bring their own. The Azimut 70 and the McKinna 70 are the exceptions, each with complimentary drinks served by its crew.
- Extras quoted separately: drone photos, flowers, cake, decorations (cardstock and a sign only; no balloons) and hotel pickup. A DJ goes on yachts of 40 ft or more, from USD 399 for 2 hours (USD 649 for 3 hours on 50 ft and up, their minimum), plus USD 150 per extra hour, paid directly to the DJ.
Only the McKinna 70 can be booked for fishing, on its sport-fishing charter with the Mexican licenses included. The others are pleasure yachts and don't carry fishing permits.
Per-person cost for groups
Since you pay per boat, the per-person number drops fast as the group grows. Here is what common setups work out to.
| Group | Yacht and hours | Per boat | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | Bayliner 30, 2 h | USD 549 | about USD 275 |
| 6 | Bayliner 30, 2 h | USD 549 | about USD 92 |
| 10 | Chaparral 28, 2 h | USD 519 | about USD 52 |
| 12 | Sea Ray 40, 3 h | USD 1,199 | about USD 100 |
| 15 | Sea Ray 55, 4 h | USD 2,709 | about USD 181 |
| 18 | Pontoon 38, 3 h | USD 1,269 | about USD 71 |
| 12 | Azimut 70, 3 h | USD 4,199 | about USD 350 |
| 12 | McKinna 70, 3 h | USD 4,499 | about USD 375 |
The 15% crew tip is a suggestion, paid in cash on board, and isn't included in these prices.
The two 70-footers already include food and the complimentary drinks, so they aren't a like-for-like comparison with the others. Our guide to all-inclusive yacht charters breaks that down, and the best yacht for 10 to 12 guests guide does the per-person math for the most common group size.
Why longer charters cost less per hour
On most yachts, the hourly rate drops the longer you book. On the Sea Ray 40, two hours is USD 879, or about USD 440 an hour. Six hours is USD 1,979 (about USD 330 an hour), and eight hours is USD 2,419, under USD 310 an hour.
The extra time also changes where you can go. Four hours gets you to Santa María Bay to snorkel, about 15.5 miles round trip with the Arch first (the bay is closed for snorkeling for now and expected to reopen in November; meanwhile the stop is Pelican Rock next to the Arch). Five to eight hours adds Chileno Bay and lunch at anchor. Our yacht day itinerary guide shows what two, three and four hours each cover.

Why the price jumps between boats
Size is part of it, and so is what comes with the boat. Going from the Sea Ray 40 to the Sea Ray 55 adds three guests (15 instead of 12), air conditioning, cabins and four water toys. The Azimut 45 and the Sea Ray 40 are both flybridge yachts, with an upper deck above the main one. The Maxum 45 and Regal 45 are sport yachts, and the Azimut 45 is the 45-footer that includes a paddle board.
At the top, the Azimut 70 has a crew of three, a menu on board, complimentary beer and cocktails, two cabins and an A/C salon, and the McKinna 70 has a crew of five, including the captain, deckhands and a chef, with food and drinks included. Both have a three-hour minimum. The luxury yachts page compares the top five, and our McKinna 70 vs Azimut 70 guide goes through the two 70-footers.
If you're not sure which one fits your group, our guide to choosing a yacht in Cabo goes through it by group size and what you want on board.

What food and drinks add to the bill
Food is optional and ordered in the planner. Menu prices are in pesos and are cash prices; paying by card adds 16%. Some real numbers from the menu:
| Item | Cash price | About in USD |
|---|---|---|
| Mexican feast for 6 to 8 people | MXN 2,600 | USD 137 |
| Mexican feast for 14 to 16 people | MXN 4,550 | USD 239 |
| Burrito box lunch | MXN 289 | USD 15 |
| Medium board | MXN 1,440 | USD 76 |
| Soda | MXN 51 | USD 3 |
The USD column uses the same 19 pesos to the dollar. Several yachts already include bottled water and ice, so check the yacht page before you order drinks.

How payment, timing and weather work
Payment comes after we confirm your date in writing. At that point we send a secure Stripe link, and you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Departures run from 7 AM to 7 PM, and yachts sail until 8 PM. Yachts from the marina can stay anchored in the bay until 10 PM. The Sea Ray 65 has to be back by 8 PM because the Cabo Escape terminal closes.
The harbor itself is controlled by the Port Captain (the Capitanía de Puerto, part of the Mexican Navy). It closes only under a hurricane or storm threat or another extraordinary situation, and most closures fall between September and mid-October. If your charter can't go out, you pick a new date or get a full refund.
Getting a price for your date
The fastest way to see your exact total is the planner: pick the yacht, the hours and any food, and it shows the price in USD and MXN. We reply within two hours, 8 AM to 8 PM Cabo time (Cabo stays on MST all year, with no daylight saving).
For a quick shortlist: the Chaparral 28 for the lowest price with up to 10 people, the Sea Ray 40 for a flybridge yacht for up to 12, and the McKinna 70 when you want the chef and complimentary drinks.

How much is a 2-hour boat ride in Cabo San Lucas?
A private 2-hour charter starts at USD 519 (MXN 9,799) on the Chaparral 28, which takes up to 10 guests. That price is for the whole boat with the 16% tax included.
Is a yacht charter the same as a yacht rental in Cabo?
In Cabo, yes. Both mean the whole boat with its captain for a set number of hours, for your group only. Nobody rents you a bare yacht to drive yourself here; every price on this page includes the crew.
Is the tip included in the yacht rental price?
No. The customary crew tip in Cabo is 15% of the charter price, paid separately to the crew. The 16% IVA tax is already included in every price.
Can we bring our own alcohol on a Cabo yacht rental?
Yes, guests 18 and over can bring their own drinks, since alcohol is not sold or served on board. The exceptions are the Azimut 70 and the McKinna 70, which include complimentary drinks served by their crews.
What happens if the harbor closes for weather on our date?
The Port Captain only closes the harbor under a hurricane or storm threat or another extraordinary situation, mostly between September and mid-October. If that happens you choose a new date or get a full refund.
