History and curious facts

The story of Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort

Las Ventanas opened in 1997; Rosewood marks its anniversary on July 4. The interiors were done by Wilson & Associates, a Dallas firm that gave the resort a Mexican-Mediterranean look, and art consultant Joan Warren-Grady helped them find the artists. Much of the finish is handmade: woodcarvers in Guadalajara carved the cedar suite doors, two master tilers from Mexico City led the crew that set pebble sunburst headboards in every suite, and local artisans laid the raised-pebble walkways. Ty Warner, the resort's owner, later added the Ty Warner Mansion, a residence of about 28,000 square feet that Rosewood presented on July 4, 2016, at the end of a five-year project; Jorge Torres of Cabo Development built it and Robert Couturier designed the interiors. After Hurricane Odile in 2014, Las Ventanas was the last of the Los Cabos luxury hotels to reopen, because the owner had it rebuilt to match its original look, gardens included.
