Montage Los Cabos is a luxury resort with 122 rooms and 52 residences on Santa María Bay, at km 12.5 of the Carretera Transpeninsular on the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. It is about 10.8 km from the Cabo San Lucas Marina, around 17 minutes by car without traffic; at rush hour the drive takes longer. It opened in 2018 as the first Montage outside the United States.
The resort wraps around Santa María Bay, a horseshoe of soft sand with calm, clear water and Blue Flag certification. Forbes Travel Guide points out that this is unusual in Los Cabos, where many resorts face rocky shores.1
History and curious facts
The story of Montage Los Cabos
Before Montage, this stretch of Santa María Bay was home to the Hotel Twin Dolphin, which opened in 1977 as a 50-room resort and was one of the few luxury hotels in Los Cabos at the time. The Twin Dolphin closed in 2006 and its original buildings were demolished. The land became part of a larger development that kept the Twin Dolphin name, with a golf course by Fred Couples that winds through desert arroyos and looks over the Sea of Cortez. Montage Los Cabos opened on the bay in spring 2018, shortly after Viceroy Los Cabos, with 122 rooms and suites, 52 branded residences, three restaurants and a 40,000 square foot spa. The buildings are low, with only four rooms or suites each, and every unit has at least a partial view of the sea. A later collection of 31 suites added private pools.

Montage is one of the closer corridor resorts to the Marina, about 17 minutes away without traffic, so a yacht day fits easily around a spa appointment or a round of golf. Book the transfer with us, the driver picks you up at the resort and collects the fare, and he brings you back afterward. Santa María Bay is already calm enough to swim, so the boat is a good way to see what you cannot reach from the sand: the Arch, Lovers Beach and the sea lions at Land's End. Families can book the family outing or a snorkel trip, couples may prefer the sunset sail, and from December to April there is whale watching.
