The hotel
GR Solaris Lighthouse Los Cabos is a 350-room all-inclusive resort on Boulevard San José in the hotel zone of San José del Cabo, run by the Mexican chain Royal Solaris since 2024. It is about 28.2 km from the Cabo San Lucas marina, around 30 minutes without traffic, and the drive takes longer at rush hour. Until 2024 the same building was the Barceló Grand Faro Los Cabos.
The resort is on the beach of the San José del Cabo hotel zone, facing the Sea of Cortez. Its own page does not say whether guests can swim in front of the hotel. Royal Solaris Los Cabos, its sister resort on the next lot, tells guests that its beach is not swimmable because of strong currents and sends them to Palmilla, Santa María or El Médano, about 15 minutes away.1
History and curious facts
In November 2013 Barceló Hotels & Resorts added this beachfront hotel to its all-inclusive collection as the Barceló Grand Faro Los Cabos. At that point it had 350 rooms and suites and was owned by Grupo Hospitalidad Latina. Entering the brand came with a renovation of 1.1 million US dollars that added a spa, a VIP lounge for Club Premium guests, an outdoor theater and new work in the restaurants, bars and rooms. By July 2014 Barceló had finished the Deep Blue Spa. In August 2024 the Gringo Gazette, a Los Cabos newspaper, reported that the hotel would join the Royal Solaris chain on September 30 and change its name. Royal Solaris belongs to Grupo Romero, a company from Puebla that opened its first hotels in Cancún in 1990 and its second resort, Royal Solaris Los Cabos, on the lot next door in July 2001. Under Royal Solaris the resort's spa is called AKUA Spa.

Your yacht day
From GR Solaris Lighthouse the yacht day starts with the drive to Cabo San Lucas. Our transfer picks you up at the lobby, drops you at the marina dock where your yacht boards and brings you back to San José afterwards; the driver collects the fare, which depends on the hotel's zone. The resort is all-inclusive and many guests come as couples or with family, so a half-day outing usually fits better than a full day away from the pools. Couples tend to choose the sunset trip. Families often go for a morning snorkel outing, and between December and April a whale watching trip is the most requested option from this side of Los Cabos.
