A baby shower or gender reveal on a yacht in Cabo is a daytime charter, two to three hours on the calm bay side, on a boat with shade and a bathroom: the Sea Ray 40 for up to 12 is USD 879 (MXN 16,799) for two hours, the Sea Ray 55 for up to 15 with air conditioning and cabins is USD 2,129 (MXN 40,399) for three hours, and the Pontoon 38 takes 18 for USD 869 (MXN 16,599). The Sea Ray 40 and the Pontoon 38 board at Dock E of IGY Marina Cabo San Lucas, by Ultrajewels, and the Sea Ray 55 at the IGY Marina Fuel Dock. Balloons and loose confetti aren't allowed on board, so the reveal is often a cake, ordered as an extra and cut at anchor. Prices are per boat with the 16% tax included; the customary 15% crew tip is not included.

The no-balloons rule is the part that changes most plans, so we start there. The whole fleet by headcount is on the yacht by group size page.

What's allowed on deck, and what the reveal looks like without balloons

Since October 2026 the Port Captain no longer allows balloons on board any yacht in Cabo. Loose confetti and glitter aren't allowed either. Decorations are cardstock and a sign.

These reveals work on a boat:

  • The cake. You order it as an extra when you book, pink or blue inside, and cut it at anchor with the Arch behind you. If you add the photographer in the planner, ask for the photo of the cut.
  • The cardstock sign. "It's a girl" or "It's a boy" on a board, turned around at the moment.
  • The drinks. Pink or blue in the cups, poured from a cooler only one person has looked in. The yachts don't sell or serve alcohol; for the guests who drink, 18 and over, it's bring-your-own.

Flowers and the cake are extras we quote separately once we have your date and yacht. For the reveal, a professional photographer can join for USD 180, with all the photos from your charter, paid directly to the photographer. Add it in the planner.

The Sea Ray 40 is the one most showers of 8 to 12 book: a flybridge for the group photo, a captain and deckhand, bottled water and ice, a cooler, towels and snorkel gear. The Azimut 45 and the Sea Ray 55 are the two in this table with air conditioning, which helps the guest of honor in summer. The Pontoon 38 fits the biggest group and has a slide for the kids who come along, but no cabin to rest in.

For a hosted version with food included, the Azimut 70 takes 12 with a menu on board, two cabins and an A/C salon from USD 4,199 (MXN 79,799) for three hours; the luxury yachts page has the largest yachts in the fleet.

Morning, two to three hours, bay side

Plan it like a babymoon day for the guest of honor and a brunch for everyone else. Departures start at 7 AM and the bay is usually calmest before midday, so leave at 9 or 10 AM for two or three hours: out past Pelican Rock and the sea lion colony, photos at the Arch, then anchor off Lover's Beach on the calm side for the cake and the reveal, and back along Médano Beach by lunch.

Skip the Pacific side, where there's more motion, and skip the four-hour run up the coast. Our babymoon on a yacht guide has the calm-day checklist, and the guest of honor should check with her doctor first; we're a charter agency, and nothing here is medical advice.

Sunset showers work too, but the light goes fast in winter (sunset around 5:35 PM in December) and the deck gets cooler after it. The trip guide has the time for your date.

Food for a shower

Food is optional and ordered in the planner at cash prices in pesos (card adds 16%). For a morning shower, breakfast dishes at MXN 325 each (chilaquiles and beans, huevos rancheros, French toast, banana pancakes, yogurt and granola) or the serrano and burrata focaccia at MXN 520. For a midday one, the Mexican feast is MXN 2,600 for 6 to 8 or MXN 4,550 for 14 to 16, and a medium cheese board MXN 1,440. Bottled water is MXN 17 if the yacht doesn't include it; the Sea Ray 40 and Sea Ray 55 do.

The per-person cost

Prices are per boat, tax included, before the 15% crew tip and before the cake.

Yacht (full) 3 hours, per boat Per person
Bayliner 33 (8) USD 869 / MXN 16,599 about USD 109

Sea Ray 55 (15) USD 2,129 / MXN 40,399 about USD 142
Pontoon 38 (18) USD 1,269 / MXN 23,999 about USD 71

One person books and pays by secure Stripe link once the date is confirmed in writing, so the host can collect from the guests afterward or cover it as the gift.

Kids, grandparents and everyone in between

A shower often brings both grandmothers and a few toddlers. Tell us the kids' ages when you book so the life jackets on board fit them; swimming is only when the boat is anchored and the crew says go. Tell us too if anyone has limited mobility, and we confirm with the operator what boarding on that yacht involves. Our family reunion on a yacht guide covers the three-generation version of a boat day.

What every yacht includes

  • A captain, and a deckhand on most yachts.
  • The CONANP conservation fee for the protected area around the Arch.
  • Departures from 7 AM to 7 PM, sailing until 8 PM, anchored in the bay until 10 PM from the marina.
  • A new date or a full refund if the Port Captain closes the harbor, which happens mostly between September and mid-October.

Booking the shower

Open the planner, pick the yacht by headcount, a morning departure and two or three hours, add breakfast or a board, and write "baby shower" or "gender reveal" in the notes with the cake you'd like quoted. We reply in writing within two hours, 8 AM to 8 PM Cabo time, or on WhatsApp at +52 624 300 8029, and send a secure Stripe link once the date is confirmed. For 8 to 12, start with the Sea Ray 40; for 8, our best yacht for 8 guide has the smaller boats.

Questions people ask

Can you do a gender reveal on a yacht in Cabo?

Yes, with a cake, a cardstock sign or colored drinks. Balloons are not allowed on board (the Port Captain's rule since October 2026), and neither are loose confetti or glitter. A cake ordered as an extra and cut at anchor off Lover's Beach works well on a boat.

Which yacht is best for a baby shower in Cabo?

For 8 to 12, the Sea Ray 40 with a flybridge and towels, USD 879 (MXN 16,799) for two hours. For up to 15 with air conditioning, cabins and heads, the Sea Ray 55, USD 2,129 (MXN 40,399). For 16 to 18, the Pontoon 38 with an enclosed head, USD 869 (MXN 16,599). Prices are per boat with tax included.

How much is a baby shower on a boat in Cabo per person?

With a full boat for three hours, about USD 100 each on the Sea Ray 40 (12 guests), about USD 142 on the Sea Ray 55 (15) and about USD 71 on the Pontoon 38 (18), before the 15% crew tip. The cake and decorations are extras quoted separately.

Is a yacht trip OK for the pregnant guest of honor?

Usually yes, on a short, calm trip: two to three hours in the morning on the bay side, on a yacht with a cabin and a head such as the Sea Ray 55. She should check with her doctor first; we don't give medical advice. Our babymoon guide covers the calm version of the day.
